Hello everyone, It's that time of week again and I have another video tutorial for you in my series of different papercrafting techniques.
This week I have chosen to demonstrate a stamping technique using masking. This is such a fun thing to do as you can really mix things up and make your stamps say what you want them to.
So as you will see from my photos above the stamped sentiment is 2 different colours. To do this you will need your stamp, some washi tape and ink. You will also need a stamp positioning tool such as a Stamp a ma jig or a folding type one such as a misti. This is not essential for every stamp that you can try this technique with but you will need it when you need to stamp twice in exactly the same place.
In my video you will see me using a DIY version of a closing stamp positioning tool which I made from a CD case, some foam sheet, magnetic sheet and some super strong magnets. I found a tutorial to make this from YouTube and there is a link to the lady, Jen Evers, tutorial on how she made it.
To mask your stamp you will need to cover part of the stamp with washi tape or any other low tack tape. Here is a photo example for you
For my cards I have used The Scenic Sayings stamp set from the Annual Catalogue and the Cupcakes and Carousels DSP stack from the Occasions Catalogue. This is a great value paper stack as it has 48 sheets 6" x 6" for just £9.00! I chose to use Calypso Coral and Bermuda Bay inks and cardstocks. To cut my sentiment I used the Stitched Shapes Framelits, which again are great value as they contain 4 different sizes of circles, squares and ovals with stitched detailing for £27. This is super set as you can use them on so many different projects, I would say that I use them for nearly everything I make! They are back in stock so snap them up before they sell out again!
Here is the video for the technique
The crafty recipe for the card is as follows
For your card base you will need a piece of card that is 4" by 8" scored at 4" on the long side
The layers on the card are 3 3/4" squared and 3 1/2" squared
A scrap of card to stamp on
